The Minister of Information and Communication Technology emphasised the importance of the ministry in building a future where technology empowers every Namibian.
Emma Theofelus made the remarks during the staff meeting where she highlighted the progress made in ICT infrastructure development.

An allocation of N$115 million was appropriated during the medium-term expenditure framework period to roll out ICT infrastructure.
This is to bridge the digital divide in unserved and underserved areas.
"Ministry driving Namibia's digital transformation, let us remember that our progress is not just on the same page—it is on the same bandwidth—pun intended! Today, we are here to reflect on our progress, recharge our vision, and stay connected in building a future where technology empowers every Namibian citizen."
Notable achievements include the National Reporting Portal for Child Sexual Abuse Material, which will be popularised in collaboration with the LifeLine-Childline website.
"The existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Salt Essential IT, the Ministry signed another MoU with LifeLine/ChildLine Namibia to promote safer online behaviours and instill a culture of cyber hygiene among different age groups. The portal allows anyone to anonymously report digitally abusive materials affecting children with the view of combating cybercrimes towards them. You can visit the LifeLine-ChildLine website @ https://www.lifelinechildline.org.na."
The Cybercrime Bill is undergoing final consultation before submission to the Cabinet Committee on Legislation.
The minister further encouraged Namibians to pursue careers or enhance skills in cybersecurity-related legal fields as they lack expertise in this area.
