The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises has confirmed it has been briefed on the recent diamond robbery at Namib Desert Diamonds (NAMDIA) and the ongoing investigation.
In response to questions from the nbc, spokesperson Wilson Shikoto stated that while the Ministry is aware of the incident, further operational inquiries should be directed to NAMDIA's board.
"The Ministry has been briefed on the incident and the ongoing investigation. For other operational questions, please contact the board," said Shikoto.
The nearly two-week silence from NAMDIA regarding the violent robbery has sparked public concern, raising questions about the company's transparency and accountability in managing the crisis.
NAMDIA has remained largely silent, prompting the nbc to reach out to the Ministry with questions about the government’s response to the robbery.
