New Grounds Fishing Group and Laridae Investments donated school uniforms and food parcels worth N$50,000 to Drimiopsis Primary School in Omaheke's Kalahari Constituency for vulnerable children.

Gabriel Tjombe, chairperson of the New Grounds Fishing Group, stressed that rural schools face various challenges; hence, the company is reaching out to needy communities.

"As we stand here today, despite our busy schedule in Windhoek, we came to present some school uniforms, jerseys, and shoes. When I spoke to Mr. Katjivirue, he mentioned that the school feeding program has stopped because the principal indicated there are no meals for learners. We felt it was proper and necessary to contribute to the program so that you can stay in school and enjoy your education."

The regional governor, Pijoo Nganate, pointed out that the donation can restore the dignity of the children and build their self-esteem, which is essential for enabling them to perform well in school.

"To the New Grounds Fishing Group and their respective companies, words cannot fully capture the depth of gratitude we feel for your immense generosity. Your contribution goes beyond material support; it is a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change. In donating shoes, jerseys, and other vital items, you have demonstrated that corporate responsibility is not merely a title but a genuine commitment to the betterment of society."

Violet Sabiso, principal of Drimiopsis Primary School, stated that the uniform donation will instill a sense of pride in the learners.

She added that the school's feeding program has been without food since the beginning of the term.

"The school has a feeding program designed to alleviate hunger and improve health among learners, assisting their education. However, since the beginning of this year, we have not had a school feeding day. Today, we are blessed, so during break time, we will not have to go home."
