A group of concerned residents gathered  in Okahandja to express their frustrations over the insufficient police presence in the townships.

One of their main demands is the establishment of a satellite police station to improve security in the area. They voiced concerns about a rise in general crime, house break-ins, and theft of communal water meters.

Another significant issue raised was the community’s ongoing call for the removal of RedForce, the debt collection agency contracted by the municipality.

Residents have consistently protested against the agency’s methods, advocating for a different approach to municipal debt recovery.

Charles Coetzee, a councilor representing the Okahandja Ratepayers Association, attended the meeting and informed the crowd that the process of writing off municipal debt for senior citizens had begun and is currently awaiting ministerial approval.
