The final session of the 7th Parliament has officially opened.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi stressed the need for a time-conscious approach if the legislative body has to conclude its agenda before adjourning on the 19th of March 2025.

Welcoming members of parliament back to the chamber, Katjavivi emphasised the importance of efficiency in handling the remaining legislative matters.

He urged MPs to streamline their work to ensure all items on the Order Paper are addressed given the limited time.

"We are required collectively to ensure that we dispose of all items on the Order Paper in a timely and effective manner. We do not have the luxury of an after, and I urge members to be time-conscious in dealing with what is before us."

As part of the session's agenda, President Nangolo Mbumba is scheduled to deliver his final address to the 7th Parliament on the 18th of March 2025.

"It is also an occasion to give His Excellency the President a token of our appreciation for his service to the nation and particularly to this house. Having been able to come to this house whenever required by the Constitution, we will be having something special from you all."

The Speaker underscored the need for all MPs to attend the session, describing it as a significant event.

The focus of the final session will be to prioritise the outstanding legislative matters before it adjourns.
