A Walvis Bay woman wants to make a significant impact in her community, as she is about to embark on a new journey as a volunteer aboard the Logos Hope Ship.

Logos Hope is the world's largest floating book fair and educational programme. It travels around the world to share knowledge, help, and hope with the people it visits.

Speaking to nbc News, Jessica Taukuheke said her choice to join the ship comes from a deep desire to positively contribute to her community.

The 23-year-old community youth leader has always been passionate about service and making a meaningful impact. This, she said, fits well with the Logos Hope programme, which offers a unique chance to learn new skills and connect with like-minded people.

When asked how she plans to use her experiences at the Logos Hope to empower young people upon her return, Taukuheke emphasised her commitment to mentorship and community engagement. She aims to share what she learns about leadership, teamwork, and resilience to inspire others to pursue their dreams.

Taukuheke believes that it is essential to address the social issues that young people face in Walvis Bay, adding that it is crucial not only to identify these challenges but also to actively participate in finding solutions.

Taukuheke is currently raising funds for her stay on the boat, as every member has to pay a monthly fee to stay on board. She is hoping to have assistance from good Samaritans.

Logos Hope visited the Walvis Bay port in June last year for the second time since its last docking in 2016. The ship has over 300 multinational crew members on board.
