President Nangolo Mbumba says that in honouring Namibia's constitutional legacy and entrenching its future, Namibians draw inspiration from Founding President Sam Nujoma, former President Hifikepunye Pohamba, and the late President Hage Geingob.

He says the former statesman and Geingob, being the chief architects of the country's Constitution, all tirelessly championed its values and principles to forge a nation where every citizen enjoys unity, liberty and justice.

This forms part of President Mbumba's message as the nation observes the 35th anniversary of the Namibian Constitution on February 9th.

The day is being marked under the theme "Honouring Our Constitutional Legacy: Unity, Liberty, and Justice."

Dr. Mbumba says the nation indeed unites to celebrate the enduring constitutional values that remain the cornerstone of our democracy and a guiding beacon for a just society.

The Constitution enshrines fundamental human rights and freedoms, and President Mbumba reiterates that it is empowering Namibians to actively participate in governance, political activity, and societal development.

He says Namibians continue to hold these rights sovereign, which is pivotal to strengthening constitutional democracy, where the judiciary and the legislature provide for a system of checks and balances in governance.

As the country approaches the 21st of March 2025, which is Independence Day coinciding with the inauguration of new leadership, Dr. Mbumba urged all Namibians to prepare for this occasion.

President Mbumba described the occasion as momentous, which will mark another triumph of Namibia's constitutional democracy, consolidating collective aspirations for continued progress.

He expressed hope that the 35th anniversary of Constitution Day renew the collective resolve of Namibians to strengthen the country's processes, systems, and institutions.
