President Nangolo Mbumba vows to serve Namibian people

President Nangolo Mbumba has vowed to serve all the people of Namibia with the utmost dedication and commitment. He undertakes to continue building on the excellent foundation established by Presidents Sam Nujoma, Hifikepunye Pohamba, and Geingob.

Mbumba said it’s poignant and reassuring that in a time of such heavy loss, the nation remains calm and united. Geingob, whom he referred to as the chief architect of the Namibian constitution, was a distinguished leader. He urged Namibians to remain united.

Dr. Naftal Hamata burried in Eehnana

Well-known medical doctor, Naftal Hamata, was buried at the Eenhana Memorial Shrine in Ohangwena Region.

Mourners first flocked to the Ongwediva Trade Fair Centers for his memorial service on Friday.

Speaker after speaker, in reminiscing on his life, described the late medical doctor as a selfless person whose contributions to Namibia, both pre-and post-independence, are worthy of applause.

President Geingob described the late Hamata as a fitting portrayal of a servant leader whose name shall remain anchored in the country's history.

Former President Pohamba welcomes naming of the MHAISS building after him

Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba is humbled by the decision to name the new Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security Headquarters after him.

Pohamba has been honored as the founding minister of the Home Affairs Ministry following Namibia's independence.

President Geingob described the naming as fair, given Pohamba's role as founding minister and later as second president.

Regional authorities called to embrace and drive NNP campaign

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr Peya Mushelenga, has called on regional authorities to embrace and drive the Nationhood and National Pride(NNP) campaign.

Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba has called on Namibians to reject tribalism and tolerate one another as a people.

Pohamba believes Namibians can do more if they stand together in harmony, irrespective of their social status.

The former president was speaking at the renaming of the MR44 dual-lane road behind Dune 7, between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, to the Hifikepunye Pohamba freeway.

The road network was constructed to reduce traffic congestion between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
