
As the nation continues to mourn the passing of Namibia's Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma, his close family and friends were given a private moment to pay their final respects.
Before his remains were taken to the Hosea Kutako International Airport for the journey to the north, those closest to him gathered for a solemn farewell. From there, a ceremonial procession led the way as the late statesman was airlifted to Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Airport in Ondangwa.
It was a sombre moment at the private residence of the Founding President when the family received his remains for a short ceremony and viewing of the body.
Viewing the body were family, accompanied by the chief mourner, Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, and former President Hifikepunye Pohamba.
Emotions ran high, with former First Lady Kovambo Nujoma and former President Pohamba both struggling to hold back tears after viewing the body.
Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Sam Nujoma Foundation Nahas Angula gave a word of encouragement to the family.
