In response to an ongoing waste crisis, residents of Walvis Bay, led by IPC member, have launched a weekend cleanup campaign.

With the town’s municipal refuse trucks out of service and private contractors failing to collect waste for nearly two weeks, streets and open spaces have become overwhelmed with rubbish at the town.

IPC members began their cleaning journey in Kuisebmund and plans to continue every weekend until the town is fully restored. They received support from local businesses providing equipment, and there are also plans to address neglected pothole, ridden roads.

IPC members suspect political interference within the municipality might be contributing to the breakdown in municipal service delivery.
