The 5th annual OTT Streaming Platforms and Content Management Summit, underway in Cape Town, South Africa, has paid tribute to the late Founding President Dr Sam Nujoma.

Nujoma died on the 8th of February aged 95.

At the start of the meeting, the Director-General of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc), who is also the President of the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association (SABA), took a moment to honour the late Nujoma.

Stanley Similo highlighted the late Dr. Nujoma's significant contributions to liberation movements across southern Africa, emphasising his unwavering support for South Africa's fight against apartheid.

The Chief Operating Officer of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Lungile Binza, echoed similar sentiments and expressed appreciation for the enduring relationship between Namibia and South Africa, as well as the strategic partnership between SABC and the nbc.

Binza said the SABC will broadcast the proceedings of Dr. Nujoma's memorial and burial services, ensuring that audiences in South Africa and beyond can pay their respects to the late leader.

The OTT Streaming Summit serves as a platform for industry leaders to discuss innovations and challenges in the African streaming landscape.

The event ends on Wednesday.
