People from various church denominations gathered at the Hosianna Evangelical Lutheran Parish in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay, on Sunday to honour the late Founding President Sam Nujoma.

Prayers and hymns set the tone as those in attendance paid homage to the leader of the People's Liberation Army of Namibia.

Nujoma made an enormous contribution and exchanged his youthful years in pursuance of freedom and liberation for his motherland and its people.

While he led soldiers to the battlefield, the church leadership was not sleeping and offered, among others, support in humanitarian aid and logistics.

They therefore gathered once again to give the anti-apartheid icon the highest honour, reflect on his legacy, leadership, resilience, and vision that shaped Namibia's path to freedom.

His character and the principles he championed during his lifetime, such as peace, justice, and national unity, came across repeatedly during the memorial service.
