The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has refuted allegations of corruption and inefficiency within the Namibian public service, following claims made by its staff member, Lolo Sylvester Goraseb.

Goraseb, who serves in the Department of Public Service Management, publicly accused the OPM of failing to uphold the independence and integrity of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Clad in chains, Goraseb spoke outside the Prime Minister’s Office and alleged that the commission’s structure compromises its ability to function impartially.

In response, the OPM issued a media statement affirming its commitment to accountability, integrity, and transparency. It dismissed Goraseb’s claims as “false, unfounded, and malicious,” insisting that the PSC has operated independently for 35 years without government interference.

The OPM further stated that the Prime Minister engages with the PSC on a quarterly basis to discuss operational and policy matters.

In its statement, the OPM urged Goraseb to formally submit his concerns through appropriate grievance mechanisms rather than airing them in public.
