The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Yury Trutnev, and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, honored Namibia’s fallen heroes by laying a wreath at Heroes' Acre.

His tribute paid respect to the late President Dr. Hage Geingob, Founding President Dr. Sam Nujoma, and all those who sacrificed for Namibia’s freedom.

During his visit, Trutnev expressed profound respect for Dr. Sam Nujoma, describing him as a visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire.

He highlighted the strong historical ties between Namibia and Russia, recalling Russia’s support during Namibia’s liberation struggle.

Trutnev reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to strengthening this bond, ensuring ongoing cooperation and mutual growth.

He was accompanied by a Russian delegation, including the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Namibia, Dmitry Lobach, as well as Namibian officials such as Jenelly Matundu, the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade (MIRT), and its Executive Director, Penda Naanda.
