The Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) is hosting a workshop aimed at speeding up access to climate finance from the Green Climate Fund.

The Deputy Director of Multilateral Environmental Agreements in the Ministry of Environment, Tourism, and Forestry says Namibia has projects worth N$10 billion in the pipeline that target climate change adaptation and resilience.

Petrus Muteyauli says the projects are from four Namibian institutions that have been accredited as GCF Direct Access Entities. 

The entity is the Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF), with a N$192 million project aimed at promoting climate-resilient regenerative agriculture in communal farming areas. 

Agribank has a N$4.7 billion project that is aimed at creating a facility that supports climate-smart agriculture transformation.

Another is Bank Windhoek with N$962 million for a clean energy facility and the Development Bank of Namibia with N$4.7 billion aimed at enhancing water security in municipalities.
