Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) MP Lucia Mbuti has called on the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare to strengthen support systems for victims of abuse. She emphasised the need for the ministry to create an environment where men feel safe to report abuse without fear or stigma.

Mbuti raised the concerns during her maiden speech in the National Assembly. She called for more shelters, counselling, and awareness campaigns to address rising domestic violence.

Mbuti also highlighted issues faced by men falsely accused of fathering children and requested an increase in the N$350 monthly orphan grant, saying it is insufficient to meet children's basic needs.
