The Christian community in Namibia, more particularly those of Catholic faith, is mourning the death of Pope Francis.
The head of the Catholic Church was the first non-European pope and served the Catholic community since 2013.
Pope Francis was well known for promoting unity among different religions and his efforts to modernise the church's governance.
He played a pivotal role in making the church more inclusive, especially through his outreach to the LGBTQI community in his famous statement, "Who am I to judge?"
Local Christians shared their message of condolence on the death of Pope Francis.
The pope was also well known for his efforts addressing climate issues and being the head of the world's largest non-government provider for healthcare and education. In Namibia the Catholic Church runs and owns hospitals and schools.
The pope's burial will take place on Saturday, the 26th of April, in the churchyard of Saint Peter's Basilica.
