President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has described the death of the Senior Traditional Councillor of the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority, Gerson Kunomundu Katjirua, as a major loss to the Ovambanderu community and Namibian nation at large.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah extended condolences to the family of the late Katjirua, who died this morning aged 82 in Windhoek.
She says the late Senior Traditional Councillor, as an elder, devoted his life to the development of his community and the preservation of the Ovambanderu culture and traditions.
"I extend condolences to the children, the bereaved family, the Ovambanderu community and the entire Namibian nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May the Lord be with you and comfort you during this time of mourning. May the soul of Senior Traditional Councillor Gerson Kunomundu Katjirua rest in eternal peace, said President Nandi-Ndaitwah in a statement.
Katjirua served as the Chairperson of the OvaHerero/Ovambanderu and Nama Council for Dialogue on the 1904-1908 Genocide Committee until his death.
