The governments of Namibia and Angola remain committed to realising the objectives of economic diplomacy.

This sentiment was shared during the farewell courtesy meeting between President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Angola's Ambassador, Jovelina Imperial e Costa, at State House.

The meeting discussed the elevated technical cooperation and interests between the two countries, particularly after a trade mission led by Nandi-Ndaitwah as international relations minister in 2022.

Through the trade mission, the two countries identified potential business and investment opportunities and committed to eliminating barriers affecting trade.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah said there has been coordination among the private sector, intent to create jobs for locals and economic growth for both countries.

Sectors such as mining, energy, transport and logistics have been identified for further exchanges during that visit.

She commended Ambassador e Costa for the role she played in facilitating the mission as well as other projects undertaken to strengthen the bilateral ties.

The President further extended well-wishes to her counterpart, President João Lourenço, for Angola's election as the chair of the African Union.

Angola's Ambassador to Namibia, Costa, stated that the work to implement key decisions would continue as part of the commitment to elevating the economic relations of the two countries.

The Angolan Head of Mission is concluding her tenure in Namibia after six years.

She also served as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Namibia in the past two years.
