Deputy Prime Minister Natangue Ithete says efforts are being made to bring to book people who stole diamonds worth more than N$300 million from NAMDIA.

Ithete was responding to questions from PDM Leader McHenry Venaani about the progress of investigations into Namdia's robbery.

Venaani expressed concern over the lack of transparency and the silence surrounding the case, stating that the government has been too quiet.

"You just want us to forget about the diamonds. You are not updating us on one of the biggest heists of corruption happening in this country. And we must, every now and then, come to you and ask, What about our diamonds? Where are we in this case? Or is it one of those cases where just things get lost in the country and we must all accept it?" questioned Venaani.

In response, Ithete emphasised that it is not a good idea to disclose the details of the investigation at this stage, adding that he will deliver a ministerial statement on the matter at an appropriate time.

"Those who stole, rightfully, as you put it, our diamonds, are busy watching us right now. Now, to equally indirectly inform them through this house, inform them how far we are in terms of catching them. It will make them hide, and we may not find them. The state is doing its best to close the case in terms of getting to the bottom of what has happened."
