MTC and the United Nations in Namibia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at advancing sustainable development through digital transformation and addressing the digital divide.

The partnership combines MTC's leading digital capabilities with the UN's development mandate to accelerate progress toward the economic and sustainable development goals.

Focus areas include economic recovery, green growth, social development and community resilience.

A key priority is enhancing rural connectivity and expanding access to inclusive and high-quality digital services.

Information and Communication Technology Minister Emma Theofelus pointed out that digitisation must be human-centred and aimed at uplifting all communities.

Emphasis was further placed on ensuring the effective implementation of the MoU, with the aim of enhancing the livelihoods of the people and advancing progress towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The MoU aims to help bridge the digital divide, empower marginalised communities and create sustainable opportunities for all Namibians.
