The Head of State has emphasised that the just concluded US-Africa Business Summit underscores the urgent need for accelerated implementation of development initiatives across the African continent.

Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah shared this during her meeting with the World Economic Forum Africa Director, Chido Munyati, at State House.

Munyati invited the President to the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, a high-profile global gathering of leaders from government, business, civil society, academia and media held in Switzerland.

This, he says, is for the President to articulate opportunities for investment in Namibia, especially in the emerging sectors of oil and gas and the uranium sector.

It will also provide Namibia with opportunities to collaborate with the World Economic Forum and engage with the private sector to support the country's development objectives.

"Our annual meeting in Davos hosts over a thousand of the leading businesses in the world, as well as 50 to 60 public figures and heads of state. And the idea is for her to come to Davos to articulate opportunities for investment in Namibia, namely your critical mineral sector and the oil and gas sector, which is now emerging for Namibia as a global player in oil and gas, not to mention the work that the investments are doing in uranium and other industries."

Munyati further commended Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah for her results-oriented leadership and commitment to tangible outcomes.

"Her Excellency was very commanding in terms of articulating opportunities in the economy. She was very explicit in ensuring, in emphasising, that any engagements that she would do when she was travelling to our annual meeting in Davos had to have critical and sort of tangible outcomes for the people on the ground. She's very concerned about everyday people in Namibia. And so anything that she does, she's very deliberate to ensure that it trickles down and there's a positive outcome for the average person in Namibia."

The World Economic Forum discusses global challenges, fosters public-private cooperation and sets the tone for the global economic and political agenda.
