The mayors of Okahandja and Okakarara are seeking assistance from the City of Windhoek in addressing some of the issues their towns are facing.
Okahandja Mayor Beatrice Kotungondo has requested assistance with waste management and general cleanliness in the town.
In addition, she requested assistance with equipment that the Windhoek Municipality is no longer using, such as skip containers and taxi rank shading.
Okakarara Mayor Asnath Kavetuna Jazukuka appealed for assistance with their drainage system, which has become a critical problem in the town.
She further requested technical support and machinery, in addition to advice on improving water treatment practices.
Windhoek Mayor Ndeshihafela Larandja pledged the city's support for the two sister local authorities, noting that with the operationalisation of the existing MoUs, the parties could agree on ways to assist each other.
Larandja also met a delegation from the Minet Namibia Insurance Brokers and the First National Bank of Namibia, whom she commended for their continued support, and highlighted the private sector's importance in the city's development agenda.
