The Chairperson of the Erongo Regional Council, Florian Donatus, has called on investors to help transform Uis from a settlement into a thriving town.
Uis, Donatus says, is seeking official town status again and is open to investment in retail, banking, real estate, mining, and tourism along the Western Corridor.
The initiative aims to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and enhance the livelihoods of residents through the establishment of various enterprises.
Donatus clarified that Uis, having held town status before its downgrade in 2010, is now concentrating on its development efforts.
Therefore, the regional council officials have submitted a formal request for its upgrade to a town, emphasising its readiness to support local governance and administrative functions.
An upcoming conference and gala dinner will be held on the 4th of July this year to mobilise funds and foster collaboration aimed at realising the vision of a vibrant, self-sustaining town.
