Young people have gathered at the Captain Reverend Dr. Hendrik Witbooi Primary School in Gibeon, located in the Hardap Region, for the launch of the third round of TVET scholarship applications for youth from the Hardap and ||Kharas regions.
This scholarship is part of the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme (NGH2P), which manages the Youth for Green Hydrogen Scholarship
Programme. The initiative is funded through the Joint Communiqué of Intent (JCoI) between the Government of the Republic of Namibia
and the Federal Republic of Germany. It plays a crucial role in Namibia’s green
industrialization strategy by enhancing the capacity of youth for the energy transition.
To date, a total of 183 scholarships have been awarded to Namibian youth pursuing studies related to the green
transition, including 90 students at the TVET level and 93 at the university level, ensuring inclusive access
across educational tiers. However, the first two scholarship cohorts demonstrated minimal
representation from the Hardap and ||Kharas regions, despite these areas hosting some of the programme's most
strategic early-stage projects. To address this issue, additional funding has been secured specifically to target these
two regions in the third scholarship cohort.
The Vice-President, Lucia Witbooi, will deliver the keynote address at the scholarship launch.
