The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), in partnership with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), will officially launch its Anti-Corruption Educational Media Campaign on Thursday.

The campaign is aimed at fostering trust and promoting transparency among the public, government institutions, and the private sector.

The campaign is to be launched under the theme 'Promoting Human Dignity in the Fight Against Corruption' and aims to educate the public on corruption's negative impact on society, including the deprivation of basic necessities.

Senior Public Education and Corruption Prevention Officer of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Josefina Nghituwamata, urged the public to be forthcoming and expose corrupt activities to hold those taking part in such activities accountable.

"It actually undermines human dignity. People don't know what corruption entails. They will not even be able to recognise who is who; whatever they are doing is corruption, and by doing so, it is affecting me. And by doing so, it is undermining my dignity as a human."

She says the initiative falls in line with the commission's strategic objectives.

"This initiative fits in well with the implementation of the National Corruption Strategy, and it directly supports strategic objective number four and strategic objective number six of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy. Number four speaks about intensifying anti-corruption education, while number six speaks about collaboration with non-governmental institutions, civil society, and the media alike in the fight against corruption."

The education campaign will be carried out through the means of media, particularly radio and television, as well as online social media platforms, in order to reach a broader audience.
