The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) held a stakeholder conference in the Oshikoto Region, where they highlighted their readiness for the upcoming supplementary registration of voters.

The supplementary registration process is scheduled from the 4th to the 19th of August 2025.

It is for the registration of voters for the regional councils and local authority elections, scheduled for 26 November 2025.

ECN Electoral Officer in Oshikoto, Ester Hipangelwa, laid out the logistics in preparation for the upcoming regional and local authority elections at the end of November.

"Oshikoto Region in total will have a total of 60 teams. A total of 332 registration officials to conduct this activity. Then we have 44 that will be trained but will be reserved as reserves. Supplementary registration of voters is slated to take place from the 4th to the 19th of August. Commencement of the nomination period is slated as from the 26th of September 2025."

ECN's Presiding Officer Sion Shikufinde spoke on the nomination of candidates and the requirements for those who wish to participate in the upcoming elections.

"The candidate must be nominated by a registered political party, must be a member of such political party, and must be a registered voter of such regional council for a certain or specific political party. And then they should also be qualified to be elected as a member of the national council in terms of article 72. Right, that candidate must not be nominated in more than two or three constituencies."
