The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture, in partnership with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, today received a consignment of 2,500 bags of instant porridge to support Early Childhood Development (ECD) feeding in the Erongo Region.

The consignment was made possible through financial support from the European Union amounting to N$29 million, with technical assistance from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Namibia, and implementation by WECCA Investments CC.

At the handover event in Swakopmund, Education Minister Sanet Steenkamp reaffirmed the government’s commitment to multisectoral partnerships that promote nutrition and early learning, stating, “Nutrition is education, and no child must be left behind because of hunger.”

The Ministry stated that it remains committed to ensuring all contributions reach the intended beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner as it continues to scale up the ECD Feeding Programme in collaboration with key stakeholders.
