President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called for strategies aimed at achieving gender balance, inclusive of both the girl and boy child across all sectors.

Speaking during the commemoration of the 63rd anniversary of the Pan African Women's Day, President Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed concern over the growing withdrawal of the boy child from various career and social development activities.

The President emphasised the importance of creating balance by also prioritising the needs of the boy child.

She called for genuine gender parity, urging women to support and encourage boys, including by advocating for policies that protect their rights and dignity, just as with the girl child.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah noted that the shift in gender dynamics, where women are increasingly occupying professional spaces, is positive but must not come at the expense of boys being left behind.

Nandi-Ndaitwah further acknowledged the progress Namibia has made toward achieving gender parity, highlighting the 50/50 zebra-style representation policy.
