Three men charged in connection with the NAMDIA robbery will return to the Windhoek Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
Sam Shololo, Joel Angula, and Samuel Shipanga face charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder, attempted murder, and unlawful possession of unpolished diamonds.
The charges stem from a break-in at NAMDIA offices on January 18, during which security officer Francis Eiseb was fatally shot.
The suspects allegedly took diamonds valued at N$315 million, of which diamonds worth N$40.6 million were recovered.
According to NAMDIA, a total of N$274 million worth of gems remains missing.
In total, 446 diamond parcels were stolen, 13 of which were allegedly found at the house of Joel Angula, who was employed as a security officer at Namdia at the time of the robbery.
Responding to allegations that some security footage from the day is missing, NAMDIA did not confirm or deny and said that the matter remains part of an active investigation.
In the aftermath of the robbery, NAMDIA suspended its CEO, Alisa Amupolo, along with the Chief of Operations, Uahoroka Kauta, and Security Manager, Paulinus Sheyapo.
The board stated that the decision to suspend them was not taken lightly and that the suspensions are pending an internal investigation to determine the events leading up to the crime and to prevent future security breaches.
The trio remain on suspension.
