Leaders from the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority are on a weeklong seminar at Farm Du Plessis in the Okorukambe Constituency of the Omaheke Region.

They are deliberating on the importance of leadership skills, agriculture, health and financial affairs, among other issues aimed at developing surrounding communities.

Speaking at Farm du Plessis, Ombara Eben Tjozohongo II Nguvauva said his office had taken a decision to bring together all leaders after taking over the leadership at the traditional authority.

The gathering is expected to result in a strategy for better leadership in the area.

Nguvauva added that these engagements also foster synergies and cohesion among leaders, which will enhance community development.

"We have come up with this initiative after consulting the entire community when it comes to traditional affairs within the community, and also after I took over the position as the chief and reshuffled our structures. I decided to train this group to better understand our expectations, which is why we are here today."

With many more issues to be ironed out, the leader promised more such training workshops, noting that traditional authorities require ample time to acquaint themselves with the various challenges they face.

Ukarapo Tjijenda, the Senior Traditional Councillor for the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority, said that the seminar was long overdue.

"I picked up many things from this workshop. One is intellectual governance. When you're having intellectual governance and your leaders are well-equipped with it, you know how to tackle many issues. We explored additional areas, including conflict resolution, conflict management, and emotional regulation. We sometimes need to reach out to our youth and elders, and by understanding their feelings, you ultimately equip yourself with the skills to manage the entire community."

Another Senior Traditional Councillor for the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority, Johnvon Katjiteo, agreed on the importance of the workshop. He added that "it is a very informative workshop, as we have learnt a lot on different topics such as leadership management and finance, and also some information about health and more."
