Senior lawyer and former Acting Judge of the High Court, Anne-Doris Hans-Kaumbi, has underscored the importance of the rule of law in safeguarding rights, preventing abuse of power, and maintaining stability.
She noted that Namibia's recent recognition as Africa's top performer in Greenfield Foreign Direct Investment was partly due to its strong judicial independence and adherence to legal principles.
Hans-Kaumbi stressed that respect for the rule of law is not only vital for democracy and equality but also for sustaining investor confidence and national prosperity.
"It checks abuse of power, it prevents dictatorship and arbitrary rule, it protects rights, meaning that it ensures freedoms like liberty and equality and property are legally safeguarded, and it promotes stability."
Namibia has been ranked first in Africa and second in the world in the 2025 Greenfield Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Performance Index.
According to the FDI report, the country climbed 10 places from last year, attracting nearly eight times more FDI projects than expected for its economic size.
