The Chairperson of the Namibia Airlines Association, Eunice Shihepo, has called on educational institutions to include fields of study related to aviation in the school curriculum.

This, she said, would help steer the industry towards a better-developed aviation sector.

She was speaking during the pre-launch of the Namibia Women in Aviation Movement to celebrate women while inspiring and preparing the next generation to join the industry.

"Let us build an aviation industry where talent arises, regardless of gender, where the sky reflects the diversity of the world below. As airlines, we are committed to building inclusive skies. That means investing in mentorship, training, and visibility. We are supporting this movement to work alongside educators, policymakers, and industry leaders to create mentorship, ensuring that every woman, regardless of background, has a chance to join us."

Speakers also noted that for too long, women have been stereotyped as not being able to lead in the aviation sector, and that it was time that women claimed their space in the industry, without fear.

Namibia Airport Company Board Deputy Chairperson Elize Peters echoed the same sentiments.

"May the winds of change lift your wings to greater heights. And may Namibia's skies ring with the promise of the possibility for all."

The South African Airways Customer Engagement Lead, Bali Mabena, encouraged aviation leaders to train and mentor the younger generation for careers in aviation.
