President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has invited investors in the global creative industries to collaborate with Namibians in unlocking the sector’s vast potential.

She noted that the government has identified the creative industry as a priority area for youth empowerment and job creation.

According to Nandi-Ndaitwah, Namibia has already produced around 60 locally funded, high-quality films, which have showcased the country’s landscapes, culture, and talent to international audiences.

Reflecting on her long-standing vision, the President recalled that plans to establish a film city in Namibia date back to her tenure as Minister of Information and Broadcasting between 2005 and 2010.

‘’And my target has always been southern part of Namibia because of the scenery that is there and it can be a place where you can play and film that which you can think of in this world’ said Nandi-Ndaitwah.

The Head of State was speaking at the ‘Experience Namibia in New York’ Cultural and Creative Industry event, organised by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board.

The event was also attended by renowned  American actor, Eric Roberts who has more than 700 film credits and has featured in various films such as “The Dark Knight’ and many more.
