The Omaheke Region is home to over a hundred thousand inhabitants. This is according to the latest reports of the National Statistics Agency Population and Housing census of 2023. The data revealed that males dominate in number in the region.
Gerrin Muharukua, who's a regional statistician at the National Statistics Agency, stressed that the numerical data that has been carried out by the National Statistics Agency are of paramount importance to the state in terms of proper planning for any related development reasons.
Muharukua said that it is always best for the general public to provide accurate and timely information when surveys are being carried out.
"The purpose of this visit is mainly to appreciate your support in human and financial resources provided during the census undertaking to provide results statistics for your targets' planning and decision-making monitoring of the programme. Informed stakeholders of other available census products, the main census report, some thematic reports, labour force and proximity data collected are available at national, regional and constituency levels, so on behalf of the NSA, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all our stakeholders who supported us through this important exercise."
Regional Governor Pijoo Nganate echoed that the provided figures are a valuable resource that will help recognise strengths, address challenges and seize opportunities in shaping the future of the Omaheke Region.
"The transformation data available in the census reports and in the profile tailored to our region provide the evidence we need to plan better, allocate resources more effectively and measure our progress with confidence. This is not just a milestone but a call to action. I therefore call on all our regional stakeholders, from government offices and local authorities to civil society organisations, the private sector and institutions and our community as a whole, to take ownership of this information. Let these census results guide your programmes, inform your decisions and serve as a compass to monitor how far we have gone in improving the lives of our people whilst steering us towards the future we envision."
According to the reports, education, sanitation and access to information communication and technology are some of the thematic areas that the region needs to work on in order to improve the standards of the residents.
