Magistrate Olga Muharukua will deliver her judgement on October 28 in the bail application of Cedric Willemse, a dual Namibian-South African citizen facing multiple charges, including fraud.

State advocate Basson Lilungwe, representing the prosecution, opposed Willemse’s release, citing the seriousness of the charges, the strength of the State’s case, and the risk that Willemse may abscond or interfere with investigations.

The State also referred to an alleged attempt by Willemse to abscond while being taken to the hospital on July 11.

Lilungwe described the alleged conduct as "economic sabotage at its highest peak," noting that Willemse, as a member of NAMCOR’s credit committee, allegedly allowed companies to exceed credit limits, resulting in significant public funds being misused.

The prosecution argued that Willemse had not proven that his release would be in the interest of justice.

Co-accused Austin Elindi and Panduleni Hamukwaya have not applied for bail.
