Chief of the Defence Force Air Marshal Martin Pinehas has emphasised that cooperative security and diplomacy between countries serve as effective and peaceful instruments for promoting international cooperation, peace and security.

Air Marshal Pinehas said this during the accreditation of newly appointed defence attachés and advisors accredited to Namibia.

At the accreditation ceremony, held at the Ministry of Defence Head Office in Windhoek, Air Marshal Pinehas welcomed five defence attachés and advisors accredited to Namibia from France, Germany, Kenya, Turkey and Russia.

“We believe that you as military officers coming from developed military countries will assist us to understand much better the issues around international security.”

Michael Atodonyang, among the newly accredited defence advisors, had this to say.

“I want to say that Kenya and Namibia have a long relationship, mostly in diplomatic and military engagements; currently we have Kenyan officers in the Namibia Defence Course. I want to thank the people of Namibia and the Defence Force for standing with the Kenyan Defence Force and the people of Kenya.”

Air Marshal Pinehas also extended his condolences to the people of Kenya following the death of their former leader Raila Odinga.

“Our condolences on the passing of a great leader of your country, Mr Raila Odinga, who just left us. We are mourning with you. He was a great leader who contributed a lot not only to Kenya and East Africa but also to the African continent and the world at large, and for that we want to join you in mourning this brave man.”
