The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform has devised an emergency plan in response to the water crisis in the Otjozondjupa Region.
Minister Inge Zamwaani said this while responding to concerns about water cuts in some parts of Okakarara raised by Swanu Leader Evilastus Kaaronda, who said, "In the Okakarara constituency, specifically Otjiituo and Okamatapati, there has been a discontinuation of water supply to those farming communities. And it's a problem that has been recurrent, and I would really want to know exactly what the government decision is about that situation and the debt that these farmers owe to NamWater."
Minister Zaamwani informed parliament that "The ministerial team met on Monday, plus all our regional heads from the various regions. And we look at all the reports that have been given, including that one. And we have devised a plan for emergency response to those areas. So the plan is now on an emergency procurement request basis. And once we get that, we should be able to resolve on the basis of available resources. But we know where the hot spots are, and we'll be focusing on those hot spots."
