Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has said regional development initiatives must take centre stage in the development of the economy.

He said this in a speech read on his behalf by his Special Advisor Asser Ntinda at the Khorixas Mayoral Gala Dinner on Friday.

Dr. Ngurare stressed that the National Development Agenda requires the participation of local and regional actors.

"Our clarion call is that no local or regional should be left behind in our development efforts to make Namibia a happy, healthy, and prosperous nation. Namibia's development journey is built on collaboration. Our national priorities under NDP6 call for inclusive growth, innovation, and local ownership."

He stated that this is a call to action aimed at fortifying partnerships, empowering youth, and constructing a future in which every Namibian holds a stake.

The Prime Minister also stressed the need for regions to take full advantage of the National Youth Development Fund, which aims to reduce joblessness, create economic opportunities, and promote youth entrepreneurship and innovation.

"This fund is one of the ladders deliberately laid by the government that Namibians, especially the youth, can climb to reach and realise their full entrepreneurial potential."

Khorixas Mayoral Gala Dinner. Patron Bisey |Uirab called on residents of the town to unite and work towards developing it.

"It is there, my plea and urge, that we get together after the elections that are coming up in the next few weeks, we decide on our local leadership, and from there we become one. Irrespective of who is the mayor or who is the management committee chairperson, we come together as one, and we work to build this town of ours. We work to build and raise our children in an environment that is hygienic and clean."

Khorixas Mayor Selvanus ||Awaseb says the mission is to ignite new partnerships and strengthen the bond that makes Khorixas thrive.
