Ohaingu Primary School in the Ohangwena Region welcomed a donation of a newly constructed fence valued at N$60,000 from Capricorn Foundation and various other sponsors.

The newly constructed fence, sponsored by the Capricorn Foundation, is part of their ongoing support for school infrastructure and community development.

Speaking on behalf of the donors, Moses Ndiefelinu highlighted the importance of education in Namibia.

"This fence is more than just a structure; it represents safety, dignity, and care. It protects the learning space where ideas are born and futures are built. It ensures that every learner who walks through these gates can focus on their studies without fear of distraction."

Ndiefelinu said the project shows the power of partnerships between communities and the private sector in supporting education.

Ohaingu Primary School Principal Rebekka Shikongo expressed gratitude to the donors, the Directorate of Education, and all who contributed to the project.

"Your contribution will have a lasting impact on this community, providing protection and peace of mind for many years to come."

Shikongo appealed for continued support and noted that the school urgently needs modern toilets to improve hygiene and protect the well-being of learners, particularly girls.

Lucia Kautwima, a former learner at the school, facilitated the donation of the fence and other school essentials through her Bridge of Hope Foundation.

"I'm honoured to contribute to our school community by donating this new fence, a safe and welcoming environment, which is essential for our students to learn and grow. Education shapes the future, and supporting our school is an investment in the success of our children and our community."

She also helped mobilise support from Namibian Freshness and Sanlam, providing school uniforms, book packs, and other learning essentials valued at N$15,000.

Director of Education for the Ohangwena Region, Isak Hamatwi, said the ceremony represents more than just handing over a fence.

"It's not merely a handover of physical structures; it is a celebration of partnership, a partnership rooted in the vision and commitment towards the advancement of education in our motherland, the Land of the Braves."

The event concluded with cultural performances and messages of gratitude, highlighting the community's shared commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment at Ohaingu Primary School.
