The Regional Electoral Officer in the Omusati Region, Elizabeth Shiningayamwe, has announced that preparations for the upcoming elections are in full swing.

Ballot papers arrived in the town of Outapi on Thursday afternoon and will be sent out to all constituencies in the Omusati Region.

Shiningayamwe says that they have concluded with training for the officials who will be overseeing the elections and will be deploying them along with police officers this Sunday for the special elections for frontline government employees that are to take place on the 25th.

Officials who will be dealing with the official elections will be dispatched on the 24th and the 25th, respectively.

She says that there will be 340 polling stations in the region, an effort to ensure that citizens would not have to travel long distances to participate in the election, adding that provision has been made for generators and solar lights.

She says that the technical teams have also done their part to ensure that operations run smoothly during the election.

She further urged the public to come in numbers to exercise their democratic right and cast their votes.
