The Office of Judiciary and Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the migration of the Judiciary's data systems' physical premises to cloud services.

The agreement is expected to improve service delivery and modernise the justice system.

MTC was selected as a successful bidder following a tender process.

The agreement will provide 24-hour access to justice servers across the country through paperwork systems and digital platforms.

In addition, it will strengthen data protection and improve efficiency in handling judicial information.

Deputy Executive Director in the Office of the Judiciary, Innocent Kandandu, says, "We want the security of our data to be secure. And that's why we chose MTC to help us in that regard, so that we'll be able to provide access to justice 24 hours a day from all corners of Namibia. It is no secret that we are having footprints in all corners of Namibia."

MTC's manager for sales is Elton Katangolo.

"As we know, the judiciary is one of the most important arms of the government that serves the people, be it through magistrates, courts and so on. And they are covering a lot of towns in the country. MTC also, by extension, has got a network that covers 98% population coverage. And in all likelihood, it was just a very good partnership that has been brought together."
