With the coronation of a traditional leader set for this Saturday, members of the !Aman Traditional Authority delivered a petition to the ||Kharas regional Governor Dawid Gertze on Thursday, demanding that the government stop the coronation of Daniel Frederick.

A group from the !Aman Traditional Authority in Bethanie marched to the office of ||Kharas Governor, Dawid Gertze in Keetmanshoop, demanding an immediate halt to the planned coronation of Daniel Fredericks.

They claim Johannes Frederick is the rightful chief, adding that the opposing faction ignored a legally ordered election and is now planning an unlawful coronation without community input.

Spokesperson of the !Aman Clan is Christiaan Uth.

"We submit this petition out of deep frustration, exhaustion and complete dissatisfaction with the ongoing disregard for lawful process in the !Aman Traditional community. The planned coronation of Mr Daniel Timothy Frederick on 29 November 2025 is illegal, unacceptable, and a direct attack on the integrity of our community and the processes already concluded. This is  while we were waiting for the way forward and the directive from the ministries. We are tired, tired of being ignored, undermined and sidelined while others push forward."

In their petition, they demand that  the ||Kharas Governor, the Minister of Urban and Rural Development and the Council of Traditional Leaders immediately stop the coronation and prevent regional officials from endorsing it.

Gertze said he will forward the petition to the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, as well as to the chairperson of the Council of Traditional Leaders, Chief Immanuel |Gaseb.

"Understanding the content of the request and demand put to my office, I promise that we are going to forward this letter with its full content to the relevant office of the minister and to the chairperson of the traditional leaders already today, as one can look at the dates in the petition for them to ask swiftly, taking into consideration the time limit in the petition. From my side, I and my office will do that."

Gertze said the issue is now with the Minister of Urban and Rural Development and the body dealing with traditional authorities.

"I am pleading with you not to go and personally interfere in that process that is now taking place to avoid unnecessary confrontation because I believe that out of maturity you left it now in the hands of the minister and the chairperson of the Traditional Leaders Council."

The spokesperson said they will not interfere in the matter.
