The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC)'s entertainment producer Jackzee Tsaraeb has won big at the inaugural African Media Awards 2025 held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He was honoured in the Special Category for his documentary, The Evolution of Namibian Music.
This prestigious award celebrates excellence, creativity, and innovation in storytelling across Africa's dynamic media landscape.
The African Media Awards, launched this year for the first time, brought together media professionals from across Africa to recognise the continent's finest voices in journalism, broadcasting, and digital storytelling.
The awards cover nine categories spanning television and online platforms, including Outstanding News Report, Interview, Documentary, Current Affairs Program, Afro-Centric Entertainment, Video Production Craft, and Social Media Video awards.
His compelling storytelling highlights Namibia's rich cultural heritage and the evolution of its music from the liberation struggle through to the vibrant sounds of today.
Tsaraeb was welcomed with celebration at Hosea Kutako International Airport.
"This means so much to me. It also means so much to the Namibian industry and the entertainment industry. For us, this is just the beginning for many more things to come. And I am so grateful for my employer, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, for giving young people, like myself, a platform to tell Namibian stories, not only to a Namibian audience but also to the audience outside of the country."
"From Content Hub, which is the program part of NBC, we are really just very proud. And we feel that this is a stepping stone for Namibian content to reach Africa and the world. Namibian stories and music must be told. To showcase what they can really do. So this is the beginning," said NBC Content Hub Head of Department Glynis Beukes-Kapa.
Musicians Top Cheri and Raxa from the Tswazis performed for Tsaraeb at a Windhoek nightclub in celebration of his award, which is helping to put Namibian music on the global stage.
For journalists and creatives across the continent, the awards represent inspiration and an opportunity to showcase Africa's diverse narratives to the world.
The platform opens doors to new opportunities, partnerships and visibility while encouraging young creatives to pursue excellence in their craft.
