A belated Christmas celebration brought joy to pensioners and people with disabilities at Gam settlement.

The gathering was organised by a local teacher, together with the social group, Tjiuti Kora Tjike Kukore.

The group comprises seven women and two men, who in 2017 began the initiative to show support and love to local pensioners and people with disabilities.

Sponsors Ondjou Conservancy and other local businesspeople joined the group's efforts, contributing a total of N$700 each.

Member of the Tjiuti Kora Tjike Kukore group, Mberitjua Kuhanga, said, "We heard on the radio that other communities were feeding pensioners. We asked ourselves why we couldn't start this initiative to care for our elders so they feel loved. He agreed, and we began."

Tsumkwe Constituency Councillor Petrus Mutji joined the gathering.

He commented that the initiative "promotes inclusion and positivity. The elders are happy, singing, and joyful to gather. People usually only come together for funerals or weddings—this is special."

Mutji expressed appreciation to the youth group for supporting the elders.

Gam residents ||Asa ||Hao and Uvatara Tupukara expressed their gratitude to the group.

The event attracted about 120 people.
