The community of Paie Kamp, located in the Epako area of Gobabis, is in a state of shock today following the murder of a mother and her daughter, allegedly committed by a 13-year-old suspect.

Twenty-six-year-old Nacky Macthanisia Dalime Menatzick and her three-year-old daughter, Delanie Esther Menatzic,k were fatally stabbed on Friday by a younger cousin of the deceased woman’s boyfriend.

Police have arrested the minor suspect in connection with the murder, and their investigations are ongoing.

According to police, a commotion broke out inside the house between the suspect and the deceased, who was at home with her two children. A neighbour reported that the suspect allegedly locked the door, preventing anyone from leaving the house.

In an attempt to seek help, the deceased reportedly pushed her six-year-old son through a window. The boy ran to the Epako Police Station to alert officers, who then accompanied him back to the house.

Upon arrival, police found Menatzick deceased and her daughter injured. The three-year-old girl later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The six-year-old boy, who was also stabbed, is recovering at home.

NBC News spoke to the Menatzick’s boyfriend’s aunt, who said she is at a loss for words following the tragedy. She explained that the family is still waiting for the deceased’s mother to arrive and that she does not know how she will begin to explain what happened.

She added that the incident resonates deeply with them, as they regard the deceased as their daughter and the suspect as a cousin.
