The National Youth Service Rietfontein Training Centre is thriving, with its state-of-the-art facilities making it easier to train and equip young people with practical skills.
The management said the infrastructure upgrades have enhanced the centre's capacity to deliver quality training.
Situated 40 kilometres south of Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region is the National Youth Service Rietfontein Training Centre, offering training and educational opportunities for Namibian youth, particularly in TVET and agriculture.
The massive centre was built, upgraded, and fully equipped through the support of the Chinese government to the tune of more than N$46 million.
The first phase started in 2005, followed by the second phase, which was completed in 2019.
The centre's infrastructure includes workshops, dormitories, a dining hall, staff housing, and recreational facilities, which include a sports field.
The area also has a clinic.
The centre is a national youth development hub offering civic training, national voluntary service and TVET in areas such as agriculture, metal fabrication, plumbing, automotive engineering and information & communication technology.
