Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongwela-Amadhila signed a book of condolences at the Venezuelan Embassy in the capital.

The Speaker stated that the capture of Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro by the U.S. constitutes an assault on that country as well as a violation of international law.

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila pointed out that Cuba's stance reflects a commitment not only to the sovereignty of the two countries but also to the defence of international human rights law.

She also reiterated a call for the release of President Maduro and for respect for the sovereignty of all nations and international law.
