Reigning Motocross champion Mark Sternagel is already laying the groundwork for another big year, despite the off-season break currently underway across motocross and other motorsport codes.
After a dominant 2025 campaign, Sternagel has wasted no time in turning his focus to what lies ahead, opting to adjust his off-season programme by returning to the gym earlier than usual. The champion says the decision was driven by his desire to stay ahead of the curve as he sets his sights on further success in 2026.
"I'm feeling well rested and ready for the new season. I'm excited to get back on the bike once full training kicks off," Sternagel said.
A major target on Sternagel's calendar is the Africa Motocross Championship, which will be hosted in Namibia later this year. The event holds particular significance for the Namibian rider, who endured a disappointing crash at last year's edition—an experience that has only strengthened his motivation.
"The Africa Motocross Championship is definitely one of the competitions I'm most looking forward to. After what happened last year, it's something I really want to come back strong for," Sternagel added.
With preparations already underway and home advantage on the horizon, Sternagel's early commitment signals his intent to remain a dominant force on the motocross circuit as the 2026 season approaches.
