The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism is currently conducting a workshop to review its performance as the 2025-2026 financial year comes to an end.

Deputy Director of Natural Resource Management, Colgar Sikopo, representing Executive Director Shikongo Haihambo, told the NBC News team that the purpose of this exercise is to evaluate achievements, identify any gaps, and develop the 2026-2027 work plan aligned with national priorities.

The four-day workshop aims to assess the ministry's achievements, identify gaps and prepare the 2026-2027 work plan in line with national priorities.

Speaking to NBC News on the sidelines of the workshop on the outskirts of Mariental, the ministry's Deputy Director of Natural Resources Management, Colgar Sikopo, underscored the importance of a work plan.

Sikopo said the workshop has also so far identified challenges and gaps in the ministry and how to explore them.
